Getting There

Girdwood is a 40-minute drive south of Anchorage along the Seward Highway — one of the most scenic stretches of road in North America, hugging the cliff side above Turnagain Arm with views across to the Kenai Mountains. Watch for Dall sheep on the cliffs above the road and beluga whales in the inlet below.

The Alaska Railroad's Coastal Classic train stops at Girdwood Depot once a day each way in summer, connecting Anchorage and Seward. Several shuttle bus services also run from Anchorage in winter for skiers.

Anchorage's Ted Stevens International Airport is the nearest commercial gateway. Most visitors fly in to Anchorage and rent a car.
