The Sitzmark is the après-ski bar of Alyeska, right at the base of Chair 6. The deck is the social centre of Girdwood from 3 p.m. on a powder day — ski patrol, lift operators, weekend warriors, everyone in the same wet boot covers. The beer is cold, the burgers are fine, and the band kicks off later in the evening.
Off-season it is quieter but still the local. A wood stove inside, a long bar, a wall of ski-history photographs. The single best place to feel the resort outside the lifts.
