Ketchikan's food scene is small but honest. Seafood is the obvious focus — halibut, king crab, and multiple species of salmon all come through here fresh from local waters. The best meals tend to be at straightforward fish houses rather than upscale restaurants. Several waterfront spots will cook your catch if you've been fishing.
The dining scene contracts significantly in winter when the tourist economy shuts down; call ahead outside of the May-September season.
