Things to Do

Wrangell's compact size and lack of cruise-ship crowds are its greatest assets. You can walk to Petroglyph Beach from the ferry terminal, reach Chief Shakes Island in minutes, and hire a boat or floatplane to Anan Creek for one of Alaska's finest bear-watching experiences. The town has a working feel that larger Inside Passage ports have lost.
