Getting There

By car: The South Rim is 80 km (50 miles) north of Williams on Highway 64, or 90 km (55 miles) north of Flagstaff via Highway 180. Both routes are well-signed. Flagstaff is the nearest large town with hotel options if the park is full. Las Vegas is about 4.5 hours west by car (the most common approach for package tourists), and Phoenix is about 3.5 hours south.

By bus/shuttle: Open Road Tours and Greyhound serve Flagstaff; from there, the Grand Canyon Railway connects Williams to the South Rim (a 65-minute scenic train ride). The Arizona Shuttle runs buses between Flagstaff and the park.

By air: Grand Canyon Airport (GCN) near Tusayan, just south of the park entrance, has flights from Las Vegas and some other regional airports. Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG) is the nearest airport with regular service from Phoenix, but a car is needed to complete the journey.

Entry fee: $35 per vehicle, valid for 7 days. The America the Beautiful annual pass ($80) covers all national parks and is worth buying if you plan to visit more than one.
