Club Congress sits inside the Hotel Congress and is the best small live music venue in town — touring indie acts plus the city's own bands. Capacity is around 400, the floor is low, the booth lighting is moody, and the bar runs strong drinks.
The neighbouring Tap Room is a different scene — older, quieter, and still in its 1930s glory. Cover charges for live shows; the Tap Room is free. The combination is the centre of downtown's nightlife.
