Shiloh Historic District

The Shiloh Historic District encompasses the core of nineteenth-century Springdale, including the original Shiloh Church from 1853 and a cluster of commercial and residential buildings from the town's early growth period. The district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The architecture is modest frontier commercial — brick storefronts and frame buildings typical of mid-nineteenth century Ozark towns — rather than anything grand, but it provides a readable picture of what the town looked like before the poultry industry reshaped it. The Shiloh Museum stands adjacent to the district and gives the historical context to make the walk more meaningful.

A story
The historic district takes its name from the Shiloh Church (1853), which gave the early settlement its identity. The church still stands on the original lot and held continuous services from its founding through to the mid-twentieth century — one of the longest unbroken congregational histories in the Arkansas Ozarks.
