Fiscalini Ranch Preserve protects more than 400 acres between Cambria's East and West Villages, including open grassland, Monterey pine forest, and a superb stretch of ocean bluff. The Bluff Trail is the obvious route: easy, exposed to the wind, and full of big Pacific views.
The preserve is also a useful antidote to Highway 1 sightseeing by car. Give yourself time to walk slowly, look for sea otters and migrating whales offshore, and cut back through the pines rather than simply turning around.
