Felton Covered Bridge

Restored 19th-century covered bridge over the San Lorenzo River.

The Felton Covered Bridge is the town's easiest landmark to like: red-painted timber, a quiet riverside setting, and enough history to give a short stop some weight. It sits in a small county park, so you can pair it with a picnic or a quick walk along the San Lorenzo River.

It is not a major detour by itself, but it is a good first stop before heading to Henry Cowell or Roaring Camp. Photographers should come early or late in the day, when the bridge looks less flat in the forest shade.

A story
The bridge was built in the 1890s, when covered bridges were practical engineering rather than nostalgia. Its roof protected the timber trusses from rain, which helped the structure last long enough to become a local landmark.
