The Hermosa Beach Pier is the town's anchor, stretching out from Pier Avenue into the Pacific. It is a straightforward pier rather than an amusement zone, which suits Hermosa: come for the ocean view, surfers below, and the sweep of the South Bay coast.
The blocks inland from the pier are dense with bars, restaurants, and casual places to eat. Sunset is the obvious time to go, though weekend evenings can get rowdy around Pier Plaza.
