Bridgeport Reservoir

A large irrigation reservoir north of town, popular with anglers after rainbow trout, brown trout, and Sacramento perch. The shoreline is open and windswept, ringed by the broad Bridgeport Valley; on clear days the view takes in the surrounding peaks in every direction. Canoes and small motorboats are common, and there is a boat launch near the dam.

The reservoir is best fished in spring and early summer before the water warms. Winds pick up most afternoons, which can make the crossing choppy but also attracts the occasional windsurfer.
