A series of free, clothing-optional hot springs just south of Bridgeport, with views of the Sierra crest that are hard to beat. The pools are formed from mineral-rich water that has deposited travertine terraces over centuries; temperatures vary by pool, ranging from warm to genuinely hot. Sunrise and sunset visits are the most atmospheric, with the snow-capped peaks turning pink above the steam.
Access is easy — a short dirt track off US-395 leads to a small parking area, and the pools are a five-minute walk from the car. The springs are managed by the Bureau of Land Management and have no facilities; pack out everything you bring.
