By train, Metrolink commuter rail connects Riverside to Los Angeles Union Station in about 75 minutes on the 91/Perris Valley Line — a practical and stress-free option that avoids freeway traffic. By car, Riverside is roughly 55 miles east of Los Angeles on I-10 or CA-60; allow 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic, and more during peak commute times. Ontario International Airport (ONT) is about 20 minutes west of downtown Riverside and serves more destinations than it used to, with lower fares than LAX for many routes. There is no Amtrak stop in Riverside itself, but the Metrolink connection from Los Angeles is frequent enough to make rail travel practical.
