Tucked into a residential area of north San Bernardino at the foot of the mountains, Le Rendez-Vous has long been a local favorite and a popular stop for travelers on the way home from Big Bear or Lake Arrowhead. Le Rendez-Vous has long been a local favorite and a popular dining choice for travelers on the way home from Big Bear or Lake Arrowhead. Large wood beams against white ceilings add a rustic touch.
The menu changes regularly and features classic French dishes: escargots bourguignon, coq au vin, roast duckling a l'orange, and rabbit. Crepes Suzette and cherries jubilee appear frequently on the dessert menu alongside fresh pastries. The owner and head chef, Jean-Pierre, regularly offers specials not on the menu.
The wine list is fairly priced and well above average, with some nice half-bottles. The mandatory French onion soup gratinee is matched in taste but not exceeded anywhere, and the vichyssoise is much the same. The house salad dressing is unrivaled. About $50 per person.
