East Village Arts District

The East Village Arts District, centred on the streets around East Broadway and Linden Avenue in downtown Long Beach, is the city's most interesting neighbourhood for art galleries, studios, and independent businesses. It developed in the early 2000s as artists moved into the relatively affordable warehouse spaces near downtown, and it now has a recognisable character that distinguishes it from both the corporate waterfront and the grittier parts of downtown.

The neighbourhood hosts a monthly art walk on the second Saturday evening of the month, when galleries and studios open simultaneously and the streets fill with people. Outside of art walk nights, the area is home to independent bookshops, coffee roasters, and a handful of good restaurants. The Long Beach Museum of Art is at the eastern end of the neighbourhood, on a bluff overlooking the ocean.
