Shoreline Village is a small waterfront shopping and dining complex that manages to avoid most of the pitfalls of designed tourist attractions. The harbour views are genuinely good — you look across to the Queen Mary at her berth, and the combination of the historic liner against the working port makes for an unusually interesting skyline. The restaurants and shops are nothing special, but the outdoor boardwalk along the water is pleasant for a walk.
The village is the starting point for whale watching tours that operate from the harbour, particularly from December through May when gray whales pass along the coast on their annual migration. Several tour operators run half-day and full-day trips. The Long Beach waterfront bike path also runs through here, connecting Shoreline Village to the beaches to the south.
