Shoreline Park and Lake

Shoreline at Mountain View is a large park built on reclaimed landfill at the edge of San Francisco Bay. The centerpiece is a sailing lake — Shoreline Lake — where you can rent kayaks, paddleboats, and sailboats. Twelve kilometres of paved trails circle the lake and continue out into the salt marshes along the bay shore, which host significant populations of shorebirds and waterfowl year-round. The views across the bay to the East Bay hills and the distant Santa Cruz Mountains are good on clear days.

The park also connects to the bay-trail network that runs along the eastern edge of the peninsula. Cyclists can cover substantial distances from here. The Google campus adjoins the park to the south, and you'll often see employees on the company's brightly coloured bicycles.
