Wildberries Marketplace on Fifth Street is Arcata's largest natural food store — a sprawling independent co-op that functions as a community institution as much as a grocery. The hot bar runs all day with rotating soups, grain dishes, and prepared foods, many of them vegan or vegetarian and all of them priced by weight. For a self-catering lunch or dinner it's hard to beat, and the quality is genuinely good.
Beyond the prepared food counter, Wildberries has one of the best bulk-goods sections in the region and a deli counter with house-made sandwiches. The store is particularly busy on weekend mornings when locals fill the small café area near the front. It's walkable from the Plaza and open daily.
