Los Padres National Forest

Los Padres National Forest begins in the mountains north of Ojai and gives the valley its wilder backdrop. Trails, canyons, chaparral slopes, and big dry views are the main draw, especially outside the hottest part of summer.

Parts of the area burned in the Thomas Fire in 2017, so check current trail and road conditions before setting out. The forest is huge; Ojai is only one of its southern gateways.
