San Clemente Pier is the town's easiest pleasure: a walk over the water, surfers below, and the hillside city rising behind you. The nearby rail stop gives the area a distinctive feel, with trains passing close to the sand.
Come near sunset if you can. The pier area is also the best starting point for a casual beach walk, especially if you are only stopping in San Clemente for a few hours.
