Salinas has a good range of Mexican and Mexican-American restaurants reflecting its predominantly Latino population — better than anything you will find in the tourist towns on the coast at comparable prices. The Alisal Street corridor has been the city's main Latino commercial strip for decades and remains the best place to find taqueries, carnicerias, and family-run restaurants. Downtown is gentrifying slowly and has some newer options.
