Bank of Canton

The Bank of Canton building is one of Chinatown's more distinctive historic facades, a three-tiered pagoda-style structure rebuilt after the 1906 earthquake and fire. Before it became a bank, the site housed the Chinese Telephone Exchange, where operators handled calls in multiple Chinese dialects.

It is a quick architectural stop rather than a museum, but it adds a useful layer to a walk through Chinatown: this was a working community building, not just stage-set ornament.
