Church of 8 Wheels

Roller-skating rink inside a 19th-century church

Address 554 Fillmore St

A 19th-century Sacred Heart Church in the Western Addition has been converted into a roller-skating rink, and it is exactly as fun as it sounds. The stained glass windows are still there, the vaulted ceilings soar overhead, and a disco ball spins where the altar used to be. Skate rental is available on-site.

Sessions run on weekends and select weekday evenings, with different nights for different vibes -- family-friendly afternoons, adult skate nights, and DJ sessions. Check the schedule before going. It is one of the most joyful things you can do in San Francisco on a rainy day.
