Clarion Alley

Mission alley packed with street art, grittier and more political than Balmy

Address Clarion Alley, between Mission St and Valencia St

Clarion Alley runs one block between Mission and Valencia streets, and nearly every surface is covered in murals, wheat-pastes, and graffiti. Where Balmy Alley is more community-curated and culturally focused, Clarion is rawer -- the art is more political, more confrontational, and changes constantly. New pieces go up over old ones, and what you see today may be gone next month.

The Clarion Alley Mural Project has been organising artists here since 1992. Walk it during the day, preferably combined with a stroll down Valencia Street.
