Fort Winfield Scott

Fort Winfield Scott is a former coastal artillery post in the Presidio, laid out near the bluffs above the Golden Gate. Established in 1912, it served as headquarters for the Coast Artillery defenses of San Francisco Bay.

The Spanish Revival buildings and parade ground are the reason to stop. It is best seen as part of a Presidio walk that also takes in the nearby batteries, bridge views, and Fort Point.
