Eating Out

Saratoga has a surprisingly strong restaurant scene for a town of its size, concentrated along Big Basin Way. The Plumed Horse is the anchor — a serious kitchen with a Michelin star and a wine list that runs deep into the California back catalogue. It requires a reservation and the budget to match. For something more casual, the bistros and wine bars along the village strip serve good California food at reasonable prices. On a warm evening, outdoor seating along the creek is pleasant enough to make the detour worthwhile from San Jose or the Peninsula.
