The Janet Turner Print Museum on the Chico State campus houses a collection of more than 5,000 prints — one of the most significant print collections in Northern California. The museum is named after Janet Turner, a Chico State art professor who spent decades building an extraordinary collection of printmaking works from around the world and across the centuries. Her gift to the university created a permanent museum that is free and open to the public.
The collection covers all the major printmaking techniques — etching, engraving, woodcut, lithography, screen printing, and mixed media — and ranges from Old Master works to contemporary prints. Temporary exhibitions complement the permanent collection. For those interested in printmaking or art history, this is a genuinely significant collection in an unlikely location. The museum is on the west side of campus, a short walk from downtown.
