Lassen Historical Museum

The Lassen Historical Museum occupies a 1890s building near downtown and covers the human history of the Honey Lake Valley — from the Maidu people who inhabited the region for thousands of years, through the overland emigrant trails of the 1850s, the Diamond Mountain gold rush, and the ranching and logging era that shaped the county through the twentieth century. The collection includes period tools, photographs, and documents that trace how this remote high-desert valley was settled and what it cost.

The museum is small and volunteer-run; hours can be irregular outside summer, so call ahead. Admission is free or by donation.
