South San Francisco is very well connected — its location between San Francisco and San Francisco International Airport makes it one of the easiest places in the Bay Area to reach.
By BART: The South San Francisco BART station is on the SFO Airport line, with frequent trains to San Francisco (about 20 minutes to Downtown/Civic Center) and direct connections to the airport (one stop, about 5 minutes). This is the most convenient option from most Bay Area locations.
By Caltrain: The South San Francisco Caltrain station is a short distance from BART and serves the Peninsula corridor — useful if you are travelling from San Jose or other Peninsula cities.
By car: South San Francisco sits directly on US-101, about 10 miles south of the city. Traffic is heavy during commute hours but the location is straightforward. Parking is generally easier and cheaper than in San Francisco.
From SFO: The airport is literally one BART stop away — about 5 minutes by train. It does not get more convenient than this for airport access.
