Press

A wood-fired steakhouse on St. Helena Highway that doubles as one of the most serious wine establishments in the valley. The menu is focused: dry-aged beef cooked over an oak and almond wood fire, with a handful of seasonal vegetables and sides. What sets Press apart is the wine list — one of the most extensive libraries of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in existence, running to hundreds of vintages from the valley's top producers going back decades, with a strong emphasis on older bottles rarely seen on restaurant lists.

The bar seats are available walk-in when the dining room is fully booked; an evening at the bar with a glass from the list and a plate of steak is one of the more relaxed and satisfying ways to spend a St. Helena evening. Expensive, but proportionate to the quality.
