Napa Valley Coffee Roasting Company

The town's main independent cafe, in a brick-fronted building on Main Street that has been roasting its own coffee since the 1980s. It opens early enough to catch locals before the wine-country morning begins, and the counter does strong espresso, drip, and a rotating selection of single-origins roasted on-site. Pastries and a simple breakfast menu are available.

The cafe has the lived-in feel of a place the whole town actually uses — unhurried, with good light through the front windows and a back room that fills with laptop workers on weekday mornings. A useful orientation point on arrival and a pleasant break from tasting rooms in the afternoon.
