Saint Helena Catholic Church

A Gothic Revival parish church on Tainter Street in the centre of town, built in 1889 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The brick exterior with its pointed-arch windows and the square corner tower are typical of late-19th-century California Catholic parish architecture; the interior holds original stained glass and a painted wooden altar.

The church is small but the most architecturally distinguished historic building in town and is still in active use. Mass is held daily; the doors are usually open during the day for visitors.
