Ad Hoc is the most relaxed and most affordable of Thomas Keller's Yountville trio. There is no menu, just a single four-course family-style dinner that changes daily — the night's menu is posted online that morning. Buttermilk fried chicken Mondays have a small cult following, and Sunday brunch is the easiest sit-down meal in the village.
The dining room feels like an upscale neighbourhood spot rather than a destination restaurant, which is exactly the point. Reservations are recommended but walk-in seats at the bar are sometimes available. Excellent for groups who want everyone to eat the same thing without negotiation.
