When to Go

Aurora has classic Front Range weather — dry, sunny, and continental. The best months are May, June and September, with daytime temperatures in the high 20s°C / low 80s°F and the prairie still green. July and August can be hot (mid-30s°C / mid-90s°F) but the air is dry and afternoon thunderstorms cool things off quickly.

Winters are mild relative to the rest of the country — 300+ days of sunshine annually — but cold snaps can be sharp, and snow happens. Spring brings high winds across the plains and the occasional April or May snowstorm that catches visitors out.

The Global Fest in mid-August at the Aurora Municipal Center is the city's main festival, celebrating its immigrant communities with food stalls, music and dance from several dozen countries. It is the easiest way to take a measure of who lives in Aurora.
