Lake Estes Trail is the easy loop when you want mountain views without committing to a national-park hike. The paved path circles the lake east of downtown, with open views back toward the peaks and a good chance of seeing elk or waterbirds.
It is not wild, and that is the point. Use it for a first-day altitude check, a family bike ride, or a calmer hour after the park roads have filled.
