Getting There

Keystone sits about 90 miles west of Denver along Interstate 70, making it one of the more accessible mountain destinations from the Front Range.

By car: The drive from Denver International Airport takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Take I-70 west to Exit 205 (Silverthorne/Dillon), then US-6 east for about 6 miles to Keystone. The route climbs through the Eisenhower Tunnel at 11,000 feet — the longest mountain tunnel in the US — and is straightforward in good conditions. In heavy winter snow or after a fresh dump, expect delays and consider tyre chains or an AWD vehicle. Traffic on I-70 heading back to Denver on Sunday afternoons can stretch the return to 3 or 4 hours; leaving before noon or after 6 pm makes a significant difference.

By bus: Several companies run ski bus services between Denver International Airport and Summit County resorts. The Summit Stage operates a free bus service within Summit County, connecting Keystone with Dillon, Silverthorne, Breckenridge, and Copper Mountain — useful for car-free days or moving between resorts. The Keystone Express service is the main resort-to-Denver option.

Getting around once there: Keystone runs a free resort shuttle between River Run Village, Keystone Village, and outlying accommodation. The Summit Stage connects to neighbouring towns. For A-Basin, it is about a 10-minute drive east on US-6 — the resort has its own parking but no direct shuttle from Keystone Village.
