Tarrywile Park is a large municipal park in the south of Danbury, covering nearly 500 acres of woodland, fields, and wetlands. Over 20 miles of trails wind through the property, ranging from easy strolls to more demanding climbs with views over the Housatonic valley. The centerpiece is Tarrywile Mansion, a Victorian summer home that hosts events and can be rented for functions.
The park also operates a working farm with sheep, goats, and chickens that is popular with families. The combination of active farm, historic house, and extensive trail system makes Tarrywile one of the more interesting municipal parks in southwestern Connecticut. It gets busy on weekends in fall, when the foliage on the wooded hillsides is at its best.
