For a small town Newark has a surprisingly good bar scene, driven almost entirely by its large student population. Most of the action is concentrated along Main Street. The Deer Park Tavern anchors the traditional end; several college sports bars fill out the rest of the strip. Things get busy Thursday through Saturday during term time. Outside of term the town quietens considerably.
