Getting Around

Downtown Newark and the university campus are compact and very walkable — most visitors will not need anything else for the central area. Cycling is popular, particularly among students, and the flat terrain makes it easy. White Clay Creek State Park is best reached by car or bike; it is a few miles north of town. Local bus service exists but is limited and not particularly useful for visitors. For day trips to Wilmington or Philadelphia, Amtrak is by far the easiest option.
