White Clay Creek State Park

A wooded state park just north of town, White Clay Creek is Newark's best escape from the urban college-town bustle. The park has well-maintained hiking and mountain biking trails that wind along the creek through mature forest. A half-day here is enough to cover the main trails and feel properly out in the countryside, despite being only minutes from downtown. The creek itself is a pleasant backdrop for a walk in any season, with fall colours particularly good in October.
