Thrasher's French Fries has occupied a spot on the Rehoboth boardwalk since 1929, and it may be the most serious business in town. The fries are cut thick from whole potatoes, fried in hot oil, and served in paper cups or cardboard buckets with vinegar and seasoning salt. Ketchup is not offered and, according to long-standing policy, will not be provided on request.
The queue on summer afternoons can run around the block. This is not considered a deterrent but rather confirmation of quality. Thrasher's represents one of the few genuinely irreplaceable things about Rehoboth Beach — a place that has resisted change not through nostalgia but because the product is consistently excellent.
The original Thrasher's is on the boardwalk at the foot of Rehoboth Avenue. There are other locations elsewhere on the Delaware shore, but the original is the one people queue for.
