Funland

Funland is a small, family-owned amusement park that has occupied the same spot on the Rehoboth boardwalk since 1962. It is one of the genuine institutions of the Delaware shore: rides, Skeeball, carnival games, and a Haunted Mansion dark ride that generations of Rehoboth families remember from childhood.

What distinguishes Funland from most American amusement parks is its scale and its pricing. The park is deliberately compact — it occupies a block of the boardwalk — and the prices are kept intentionally low, a policy the family has maintained since the beginning. This makes it accessible to families who would otherwise skip the amusement park experience on a beach holiday.

The park runs from mid-May through Labor Day, with limited operation in the shoulder seasons. Lines are longest on weekends in July and August; early evening on a weekday is the best time to visit if you want short waits.

A story
Funland has been family-owned and operated since it opened in 1962, and it charges some of the lowest prices of any amusement park in the United States. The owners have deliberately kept prices below the market rate for sixty-plus years as a matter of policy. In an era when theme park corporations charge $150 for a day pass, Funland's Skeeball still costs fifty cents.
