Boynton Beach Inlet

The Boynton Beach Inlet cuts through the barrier island at the northern end of town, connecting the Intracoastal Waterway to the Atlantic. The inlet jetties are among the most productive shore-fishing spots on the Palm Beach County coast — snook, tarpon, jacks, and bluefish move through the channel on tidal changes, and the north jetty has a well-worn path to the rock tips where local anglers have been fishing for decades.

Watching the boat traffic is a sport in itself. Sportfishing vessels heading offshore in the morning, dive boats, sailboats crossing the bar — on a calm weekend morning the inlet is as active as any Florida waterway. The adjacent Phil Foster Park has a small snorkeling lagoon, a boat ramp, and picnic areas that make a good base for a morning here.
