Sand Key Beach

Sand Key Park sits on a barrier island just south of Clearwater Pass, offering 65 acres of beach and parkland that feel noticeably calmer than the main Clearwater Beach strip. The sand is the same fine white quartz, the water just as clear, but there are no jet skis, no parasail operators, and far fewer people. It is the beach locals go to when they want to actually relax.

The park has showers, restrooms, picnic shelters, and a dog-friendly area at the north end. A short boardwalk nature trail winds through sea oat dunes and coastal scrub. Swimming is excellent in the gentle Gulf surf, and shelling picks up after storms. Parking costs a few dollars in metered spots and rarely fills except on holiday weekends. The park is also a reliable spot for watching shorebirds, including black skimmers and roseate spoonbills during winter months.
