Hollis Garden

Hollis Garden is a formal garden on the shore of Lake Mirror, adjacent to the downtown promenade and one of the most pleasant public spaces in Lakeland. The garden is arranged in a symmetrical pattern around a central fountain and reflecting pool, with seasonal plantings, manicured hedges, and the kind of geometric formality that is unusual for a Florida public park.

The garden is small enough to walk through in 20 minutes but provides a beautiful setting for a longer pause. It is directly connected to the Lake Mirror promenade and makes a natural extension of any walk around the downtown lakes. Free to enter, open during daylight hours.

A story
Hollis Garden was created on the site of a former City of Lakeland maintenance yard on the shore of Lake Mirror. The garden was completed in 2002 and is maintained entirely by the City of Lakeland, unusual in that it receives no state or federal funding. The design incorporates over 10,000 annual and perennial plants arranged around a central reflecting pool, with views across Lake Mirror and the downtown promenade.
