Central Florida has two distinct seasons: a hot, humid, and rainy summer (May through September) and a dry, mild winter and spring (October through April). For visiting Lakeland, February and March are the sweet spot — pleasant temperatures in the low to mid 20s Celsius, dry skies, and the added bonus of Detroit Tigers spring training at Joker Marchant Stadium. Winter visitors from Michigan in particular have been coming to Lakeland for decades.
October through January is also excellent for the Circle B Bar Reserve and outdoor walking around the lakes — the heat has broken and the crowds are minimal.
June through September is hot and uncomfortable, with afternoon thunderstorms most days. The wildlife watching at Circle B Bar is still good early in the morning, but the heat makes extended outdoor activity unpleasant by mid-morning. The Florida Southern College campus can be walked any time of year — the esplanades provide shade.
