Eagle Lake Park is one of the better birding spots in north Largo, built around a small lake that attracts herons, egrets, anhingas, and the occasional bald eagle that gives the park its name. The loop trail around the lake is about a mile and passes through oak hammock and wetland habitat — short enough to do in half an hour, pleasant enough to do twice.
The park has a playground, picnic tables, and a small fishing pier. It is popular with families in the early morning and evening, and quiet in the midday heat. Alligators are present in the lake; keep children and dogs well back from the water's edge.
