The Tampa Riverwalk is a 2.6-mile promenade along the Hillsborough River, connecting the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park through downtown to the Convention Centre district and the Florida Aquarium. It is the best way to experience downtown Tampa on foot, passing through parks, past the Tampa Bay History Center and the Museum of Art, and under the dramatic minarets of the Henry B. Plant Museum across the river.
The Riverwalk is well-designed and pleasant to walk at any time of day, though evenings are particularly good — the downtown skyline reflects in the river and the waterfront restaurants and bars come alive. Rental bikes and electric scooters are available at several points along the path.
Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, at the north end of the Riverwalk, hosts concerts and events throughout the year and has good views across the river to the University of Tampa. The park's lawns are a popular gathering spot for the downtown lunch crowd on weekdays. The Riverwalk connects naturally to the Channelside district at the south end, where the Florida Aquarium and cruise terminal are located.
