Calvary Episcopal Church

Calvary Episcopal Church is one of the handsomest buildings in Americus, a Gothic Revival structure that anchors the southern end of the historic district. Built in the late 19th century, it reflects the prosperity of Americus at its cotton-trading peak, when the city could afford to build in stone and stained glass.

The church is an active congregation and the interior is worth a look when open — the woodwork and windows reward attention. It sits close enough to the Windsor Hotel to visit as part of a walking tour of downtown.
