Getting There

Americus has no commercial air service. The nearest airports are Columbus Metropolitan Airport (about 60 miles southwest) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (about 130 miles northeast) — most visitors fly into Atlanta and drive down on US-19.

By car, Americus sits at the junction of US-19 (running north-south through central Georgia) and US-280 (running east-west). The drive from Atlanta takes about two hours. From Columbus, it's under an hour.

There is no regular train or bus service to Americus itself, though Greyhound serves nearby Albany (30 miles south), from where you would need a rental car or taxi.
